Who built it
Opera Grand is an Emaar Properties development; Propsearch notes it was delivered through Emaar's subsidiary Emaar Development. The design is credited to DP Architects by both Propsearch and Wikipedia. In July 2016 The National reported that Emaar had awarded the main construction contract to the Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company, and Propsearch lists the same firm for the building works. The tower was finished in 2021.
When the contract was announced, The National described a tower of 65 to 70 storeys with 56 residential floors, set to be part of the new Opera District next to the Dubai Opera house, which was then weeks from opening.
How tall, and how many floors?
Two independent sources, Propsearch and Wikipedia, give the height as 288 metres (945 ft).
The floor count is less settled, and you will see different numbers in listings:
- 70 storeys: Emaar's current Opera Grand project page.
- 66 storeys: Emaar's original launch brochure, which also described only two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. The plans have changed since launch.
- 68 storeys plus 4 basement levels: Propsearch.
- 71 storeys: Bayut's building guide and Wikipedia.
None of these sources explains the difference. If an exact floor count matters to you, for example in a sale contract, check the title deed and the developer's documents rather than a portal.
The number of homes is also quoted differently: Propsearch says 200 units, while Wikipedia gives 249. We have not found an Emaar figure that settles it.
Design
Emaar's brochure describes a sleek, continuously curving tower wrapped in a façade intended to shield it from the climate while keeping it visually transparent. Inside, it emphasises floor-to-ceiling windows, tray ceilings, neutral finishes, stone and marble countertops and cream-coloured tiling. The brochure says the balconies look out over Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Fountain and Downtown Dubai. Propsearch adds that the tower stands on a two-storey podium and that its basement car parks link into Emaar's underground road network.
Facilities
Emaar's project page lists these residents' facilities:
- Rooftop swimming pool
- Gymnasium and health club
- Billiard room and games room
- Party room and theatre room
- Children's pool and play area
The launch brochure also mentions a terrace and two storeys of restaurants, cafés and shops in the building. Bayut's guide additionally lists a sauna, spa and barbecue area. These come from a portal rather than Emaar, so check them before relying on them.
